So last night, I was taking BFF home with Daughter and Miss Varsity Cheerleader and the brakes went out on the caddy.  Foxy worked all day Tuesday on Daughter's car, so now his car is down.  Good thing he is off until June 18th!    Hopefully he will be able to fix this cheaply an quickly.  Hopefully!

DID you watch So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) last night?  What amazing things.  When Pasha took his shirt off...let's just say my daughter and I were wiping drool off our chins.  And Jose with Twitch, Comfort and Dominic.  I bow to them.  They are all so awesome!  Kent Boyd (from Ohio) was perfection with Travis Wall's dance and let me tell you...Wade Robson's  (and his wife's) choreography for the opening number, I literally bow down to.  I can not get enough of this show.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!

Today I only work until noon because this company has summer hours from the Monday after Memorial Day to the Friday before Labor day.  I seem to feel rushed today, but my 12:05 pm I am gone!

Daughter and I are getting hairs cut today and Son is having the percussion tryouts.  Wish him luck (though he doesn't need it!).

Tomorrow we are going the Banana Split Festival and who knows what else.  Have a great weekend, I will try and post something about mine on Monday!  Love to all!

1. Is there something you've always wanted to try but just can't muster up the courage to actually do yet?

I am not the type of person to speak my mind if someone in authority makes me feel bad.  Someday I would like to just say what I think.

2. If you had $100 handed to you in cash without your significant other knowing about it, what would you spend it on?

Books or clothes.  Nothing particular comes to mind.

3. What was your favorite piece of playground equipment as a child?  

I loved the merry-go-round!

4. Do you prefer a sweet or hearty breakfast? 

As long as I am not cooking it, both!  I hate to cook breakfast, though I have been known to do amazing chocolate chip pancakes.

5. Are you a Neat Freak or a Messy Bessy?

I am the messiest person.  I pile things up and finally get fed up and clean.

Friday 5: Prom Revisited

Tonight is our high school's Senior Prom.  Our neighbor is going and she is very excited.  She has a new dress, getting a new hair do, and she has been tanning for weeks!  LOL.  I text her this morning and asked her when she was leaving.  She text me back and told me around five pm.  I am sad, because I don't get off work until then.  So Foxy and Daughter will have to go over and Ooh and Aah over her dress and all.  Every time we have talked to Miss Varsity Cheerleader, she has told us the countdown days until Prom. 

So that got me thinking about my prom, X amount of years ago.  I wish I had a picture on my computer.  But, I don't.  So here are my Friday 5 about what I remember of Prom 1986.

1.  I had a short dress.  It was black on the top, with white crenalin on the bottom, with a red sash. 

2.  My date drove me in an MG convertible, with the top down.  LOL.  Good thing I had short hair that didn't go anyway.

3.  Another girl at the dance had the exact same dress on only with pink on top.  I never saw her, but I heard she was upset about it.  I don't know why though.  Yeah, the same dress, but different colors.  BIG Deal!

4.  The afterprom was not until the next day, so I got home around 2 am.  We had fun, though.

5.  We went on a cruise boat on the Ohio River the next afternoon for lunch.  It was sunny, peaceful and a good time for all of us to unwind after the night before.

Pretty tame, right?  Yeah, that's me.  I am not the party animal.

Friday Five - Scenes from Around the House

Last night, Foxy worked a little outside around the house.  So I snapped a few shots of things I love about the outside of my house.  Here we go...

1.  Welcome to my home.  I love having people over.

2.  Below the sign is my lion.  In my husband's hometown, a man would make these out of concrete.  They weigh a ton!  The creator of this was in his 80s or 90s when he made this one.  It was sitting in Father-in-Law's flower bed.  He let Foxy have it.  I do not give him a bow during the holidays or anything.  One time, though, Daughter and BFF colored him with sidewalk chalk.

3.  Something I don't have a picture of, but will later this summer is a deck.  We are going to put a big porch on the front of our house.  Lion will be moved, but probably to just on the deck.  That will be determined at a later date.

4.  I forget were this well pump came from, but I plan to use Rustoleum on it, but not sure what color.  This is going to be our no-fuss flower bed.  I was thinking red, like my front door, but not sure.  Any suggestions?

5.  The last scene is just my imagination:  In this picture above, I want a no-fuss floweresque bed.  I have bushes on either end of the spectrum, and I have a three-piece stone alligator that I love and want to keep there.   I hate geraniums, so that will not be a flower of choice.  Not sure what though.  Maybe some mums.  I love them.

So that's some of my favorite things about the front of my house.  What do you like about your house?

Random Friday 5

Usually today is "Friday Five", but I found so many random things this morning, I am doing a Random Friday 5 blog.

1.  The high school football coach resigned yesterday.  That will upset a few people.  He has been with the program just two years.

2.  Driving in to work this AM, there was so much traffic.  When we started to get bunched up, cars were shooting in and out of lanes, jockeying for position.  It was crazy!

3.  Why did someone leave a roll of toilet paper on my desk?

4.  My new refrigerator comes this AM!  I am uber-excited!

5.  Grease is the word.  Going to see my niece in her high school production of it.

Friday Five - Gleeful

On Tuesday, the spring season of Glee begins.  I have always liked shows that mix song, dance and acting.  I loved the tv show, Fame.  I like variety shows, but they are not the same as shows like this.  I could go on and on about the good things of Glee.  But I will just do my Friday 5 as the top things I like about it.

1.  The songs that have been used have been great!  The harmony...the kids voices are amazing!

2.  The story lines are not cheezy.  When Quinn found out she was pregnant, she wasn't happy.  She cried her eyes out.  That is what most normal teens would do.

3.  I love that Jane Lynch (Sue, the Cheerios coach) is so spiteful and mean.  She is perfect in this roll!

4.  Mr. Schuester is adorable!

5.  I can watch this with my daughter and not cringe!

Speaking of my daughter, she had been having, uh..., female problems, so I took her to my OB-GYN yesterday.  I tried hard to really explain how things worked and what to expect.  She is not big on surprises like that.

Well everything went fine and we found out a few new things about her, but the dr. didn't do a full exam (thank the Lord).  So as she was getting dressed, I helped her snap her bra back together, and then she put her other things back on.  When she was pulling down her shirts, I looked at her weird.  She asked what?  I asked her how many shirts did she have on.  She said two.  "Are you sure?" I asked.

"Why?"  She asked.  I told her that it looked like three.  She started to laugh and told me that the undershirt is a tank top with extra support for your boobs.  So it looks like you have more on.  I am happy that she is having the more than less thing going on.   

Easter Candy Friday 5

May Good Friday be what it is to you.  For me it is the remembrance of Christ's night of torment and beating before the Jews.  What does it mean to you?

Today will be a random day.  I was looking at something and came across something weird, but cool.  Easter brings out the child in all of us.  Especially the candy.  The Washington Post has (for the last four years) held a contest where you create a diorama of a scene (this means it needs to be in 3-D) using Peeps.

I hate to eat these sugary marshmallows of color, but the genius ways people use them were amazing.  I am making a sunflower cake with these.  So, we will see how that goes.  Go to www.washingtonpost.com and see the 38 entries.  They are really neat!  I am not that creative.

Friday Five

Today's Friday Five is about what you have never done with your family before...or have you?

This weekend, here are five things I am going to try to do with my family that I have never done before.

1.  We are going to walk around Cin-City down at Fountain Square and to several places to see the Canstruction competition.

2.  I am going to try to pay attention to them more.

3.  I am going to make each family member pick a meal for next week that they want to prepare for us.  Yes we still have as many family meals around the table together as possible.

4.     We will talk about a possible vacation.

5.  We go to Hooters.

Friday Five - Olympics

This week's Friday 5 is brought to you for the last time this year courtesy of the Olympics.  What were your favorite or most memorable moments.

Here are mine:

1.  The gold medal performances by Evan Lysacek, Simon Amman, Shawn White, and Bill DeMong.  If you don't know these gentlemen, look them up.

2.  I have enjoyed that fact that Evgeni Plushenko is so personable and so deeply loved that the makers of his website gave him a Platinum medal over the Gold medal, even though Evan did beat him on content.

3.  The most memorable story to me was the courage that Joannie Rochette had to keep competing even though her mom passed away two days before she performed.  How can one do that?  I would not be strong enough, I think.  And to win the Bronze medal on top of that?  Totally my heroine.

4.  I love that Shaun White and Jeret Peterson are so innovative in their respective sports to keep trying new ideas and bring new stunts to the forefront.  It is so amazing.

5.  I love the hype the tv brings us for each sport.  Especially Apolo Ohno (of course I had to mention him), and the Lindsey Vonn/Julie Mancuso drama.  Sport is sport.  Apolo has done so much already that he will be in this generation's heart as beloved for a long time.  Just like Dan Jansen.  The media has blown the Vonn/Mancuso thing way out there.  But it is entertainment for crying out loud!
    

FRIDAY 5

It's Friday! Time for the Friday 5. This week is all about the big O! Yeah, the 2010 Olympics.

What are the five high lights you have found so far in the Vancouver Winter Games?

1. Simon Aarmann, the Swiss Ski Jumper, who screamed and let loose when he again, won a Gold medal. I laughed hysterically at him. And he is cuter without his glasses.

2. Loved that Johnny Weir, Men's Figure Skating, work a wreath of roses on his head after his skate. It is so you, Johnny!

3. Love the pants that so many of the Men's Curling Teams have worn. Argyle. Really?

4. I love that Shaun White, Snow Boarding, Half-pipe, took his victory run and was scored higher than on his first run! Hey Judges, he had already won!

5. I loved the side story that Mark Hamilton told on Evan Lysenko. Like Mark, Evan was dealing with the pressure of being the World's Champion too. He kept texting Mark and asking him how to deal with the pressure. Obviously, he took Mark's advice.

Enjoy the Friday Five

I was so busy at work and at home that I really apologize for not posting yesterday. Not that anyone out there (all five of you) really minded.

So I am going to join them together and tell you all the things I plan to enjoy this weekend, and see what comes of it.

1) I am going to enjoy seeing all Mike's family tonight and tomorrow, but I am not going to enjoy the reason (funeral).

2) I am going to enjoy seeing my first wrestling match. The school league is having an All-League Title match with 14 schools right up by where the funeral is. I enjoy supporting our athletes and school!

3) I am going to enjoy seeing the new movie Valentine's Day on Sunday. I have been dying to see this movie.

4) I am going to enjoy making a special treat for Foxy for Valentine's Day. I found a recipe for White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake. OMG! I may make some truffles for some friends at church too. I'll let you know how that goes.

5) Sunday night they are calling for us to get more snow. The 7+ inches have not melted, and looks like it will not for a while. So I will enjoy another round of snow. Most people around here are ready for it to leave. Not me! I want it to last a while longer. I know, I know. I am weird.

Friday Five

Here is SW Ohio, we are under a Winter Weather Warning. My county may get 6 to 8" of white death this evening and beyond. Now for a lot of you this is no big deal. For us, it is a bit more than we are use to, but as long as I get home before the majority of it starts to build up, then I am okay with. In honor of the storm, today's Friday 5 is about Preparing for a Storm. What do you do to get ready for a major weather event? Here is what I do...

1. I talk to everyone I know about the weather. Do you believe the weather people? I get lots of opinions and make sure everyone knows the latest and greatest on the subject at hand.

2. I start preparing a menu. I love to make lists.

3. I go to the store and stock up. Last night I got enough food for a week and a half. Now if it will just last that long.

4. I make sure that there is a lot of books and the electric company is paid for.

5. I usually make sure I have gas in the car. I do have enough for now.

Friday Five

What are your five favorite things you are looking forward to this weekend?

Here are mine...

1) I have no real plans this weekend, except to go to lunch with a lot of my Dad's family.

2) I am looking forward to watching the Vikings/Saints play football.

3) I am looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning!

4) I am looking forward to the unknown!

5) I am looking forward to the new pizza place my husband suggested. I will let you know how it is.

MY FRIDAY FIVE

This has been such a depressing week around here. People dying, divorcing, devastation and turmoil. What's a girl do to? Well, encourage everyone, of course! I want you to thing of five things that will make you happy. Things that will spread a smile on your face, lift your heart and make your soul sing! Here are mine.

1) Spending time with my family and best friend.

2) Buy something chocolatey. It could be a candy bar or a milk shake or a Starbucks coffee.

3.) Sing a song to the Lord. I love to sing and practicing a new song and getting it right. Knowing I will be able to do it right is rewarding.

4) Curl up with a good book. What are you reading right now? I am reading Eclipse, but I am almost done with it. Then I will start on Breaking Dawn. Can you tell I am into the "saga"? LOL.

5) Tomorrow I am getting my hair cut. Nothing too drastic, more of a trim it up thing.

So those are the things that make me happy. What about you? What makes you extremely happy?

Your Friday Five

With most of the country in the throes of bone-chilling cold, what do you love most about cold weather? Can you come up with five things? Here are mine.

1) Cold weather gives me an excuse to have Foxy build a fire in our woodburning fireplace. I love that!

2) I love soup and warm sandwiches!

3) My dog, Josie Belle (picture above) tries to catch falling snow in her mouth! I love watching her.

4) The smell of the hand lotion I use to keep my skin from getting too dry and cracked! It is Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar.

5) I just love to have to go get the salt and brine washed off my new Ford Edge!
