4th of July Weekend Update

What a terrific weekend!  It was HOT, but yesterday it cooled off enough that the parade went off and the fireworks were wonderful.

We had a fun weekend.  Friday night was the closing program for VBS.  Saturday, we didn't do too much.  Some errands, good food, Son came home from the Amish country with the Grandparents.  We did go get our free Nestle mini-drumsticks.  It was fun. 

Sunday, we honored our soldiers and country at church.  It was kind of  an emotional day. Mom and Dad came over later and we grilled out and then went to a new ice cream place called TWIST.  The pictures are of Foxy and Son, me and Gpa, and Daughter and Gma.  It was very hot, and a great night for ice cream.

Monday, Foxy's brother & SIL came over to watch the parade with us.  Then we went out to eat.  Daughter marched.  The parade was bigger than last year and great weather, not too humid.  We got under a tree, where the shade and a breeze kept us cool.  After the relatives went home, Foxy watered the garden and Josie Belle, and I took pictures.  We then rested a bit, and then went to the Light Up the Sky in Monroe for the festival and fireworks.

We lost another tomato plant, but we still have plenty and they are starting to grow.

This is Josie Bell getting sprayed.  She actually barks until we spray her.  With all her hair, it really cools her down!

Happy Independence Weekend!

Well, we made it to July!  Hope your weekend will be good.

  Today, I get off at noon.  Then Daughter and I will do the grocery shopping, go to the chiropractor, and then VBS for the closing program.  Foxy is working all day.

Tomorrow, there isn't anything going on.  Laundry, cleaning, keeping cool.  Son will be home from the Amish country with my parents.  Foxy is off until next Wednesday.  At some Wal-Marts, they are going to have Nestle Drumsticks they are giving away from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm.  I will take the kids for that.

Sunday we are having our Red, White and Blue service.  It's always a great time.  Then probably a cook-out with my parents and maybe some friends. 

Monday, Daughter is in the local parade with the band, Foxy's brother and SIL will be down to watch.  Then we will go eat pizza and then watch fireworks.  Sounds like a fun, relaxing weekend.

Today I get to pick up 25 dozen ears of corn!  Gma, Daughter and I are going to be working on shucking it today and tomorrow we will parboil it, cut and scrape it off the cob, put it in freezer bags and plop it in the freezer.  Best corn ever!

That's him in the light blue shorts.  He really liked it, so I hope They can keep them interested and doing this throughout his high school career.

Last night, Foxy picked up Son, Daughter and BFF from band practice.  While he was gone, he sent me this text:  "I c football"

I text back "That makes me smile."  If you follow me long enough, you will find that I am a Monroe High School football fanatic!

I can't wait to go watch them in scrimmages, games, and yes, I even sometimes watch practices.  It is also okay that Son doesn't play.  He tried and got hurt, so he's pretty much done with playing football.  He will be playing bball and I love that too!

Don't forget to thank a Veteran and those in are Armed Forces this weekend.  If it wasn't for those brave soldiers, we may not have this day to celebrate.
