Weekend Update

Good Monday Morning...or is it?  I had a great weekend.

Friday night, the football team won their game in a last seconds stop of their opponets.  It was a total nail biter.  I love/hate games like that.  Plus the band was, as usual, terrific!

Saturday morning, I thought I was going to sleep in.  But as it was, Foxy woke me up at 6:20 am to ask me a question and I couldn't go back to sleep.  So I caught up on all my favorite tv shows, banking and cleaning the desk and dining room.  I let the kids sleep in until around 11, and then we went to the grocery.  We all had to be at the school later for them to get ready for the band competition.

The kids did a great job and placed 2nd in their division.  Son (seen below) is the only person in our pit (which is the instruments that it is hard to march with and stands on the sidelines).  As the band was walking around to listen to the awards (we were the last band to perform), a group of kids from another band in the stands hollered "We love you xylophone guy!"  Son started smiling and shrugged his shoulders.  He loved it.  Then after awards, they came up and talked to him and gave him lots of hugs.

I love this shot of Daughter with her flag going.

The high school the competition was at boasts banners of their atheletes that have went on to professional teams.  As I was looking, I saw one of my co-workers!  I knew he was drafted and played a season or two for the Bears, but he was drafted by the San Diego Chargers.  I can't wait to see him this morning.

On Sunday, we went to church and then came home.  It was kinda nice to be able to start laundry, cook, and just relax and watch my Bengals lose it.  You.Have.Got.To.Be.Kidding!  Bummer.

Remember last week I said I won some baking mixes from Dassant on Twitter?  Well here are the Fudge Truffle Brownies.  That are so rich!  The pan only has two pieces in it and I have not had one yet.

Well, have a great day!

  1. I miss going to the band competitions around this time of year! What kind of music is your band performing for their show?

Those brownies look insanely delicious, by the way.

  2. I remember Band. Good times. The first two years I played my flute and then the last two I was in colorguard. :0) We always seemed to come into 2nd place during our competitions. Not sure if we ever came in first. :0( oh well it was still great fun.

Football over the weekend was slightly disappointing. Bengals lost, Chiefs lost, Bears and Cardinals Won. So all in all it was an even day.

  3. I love your xylophone guy, too! "Back in the day" I played the *marching xylophone.* Yep. 110 pound little 14-year-old girl marching with a 50-pound xylophone. Fun, huh?
