It's Friday!

In the words of Rebecca Black, "It's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday."

It has been a long week.  Not quiet sure why, but I'm glad I only have two more hours of work.  It is going to be a busy, fast-as-lightning weekend too.

Today:
Running errands including:  getting vehicle licenses, banking.  Making two cakes for two picnics, taking Foxy to his favorite pizza place in his hometown, and then going the the football scrimmage in a nearby town.  Go Hornets!

Tomorrow:  we have a family reunion.  I think Daughter is taking her BFF, AJ, homecoming shopping.

Sunday:  church, church picnic and then Hornet Days, which is where the fall sports, band, cheerleaders, etc. are introduced.  I will be actually helping running a booth for the After-Prom committee.  So it will be fun!

What The Friday?

So last night, Son talked to me about three things.

1.  He finally wants to get a job.  He wants to go to the soccer clinic and be a ref for SAY soccer on Saturday mornings.  I'm kinda surprised, but that's good.  The clinic is tonight and tomorrow morning.

2.  He is going to ask a girl to Homecoming.  See Monroe's Homecoming is 33 days after they start school, so the kids better get a headstart.  He wants to get a bouquet of flowers and make a poster asking her.  He will put it on her car after band next week.  The kicker is that she is two years old than him.

3.  Finally, Daughter wants to get her ears pierced (she's 17).  He wants to also.  What do you think about a 14 year old getting his ear pierced.  I don't have a big problem with it, but there is a nagging of perception.  Is it such a big deal?  Foxy is more opposed than I am, but we will get a lot of flack from family, I am sure.

This is a busy weekend.

Tonight and tomorrow AM, Son has soccer clinics.  Also tomorrow, Daughter is babysitting and staying at a friends house.  Sunday is church and my company picnic.

It's Friday!

Happy Friday!  TGIF!  I hope all of you are doing well, especially in this heat.  Last night, Daughter, Foxy and I went to Dairy Queen and ordered her birthday ice cream cake.  She ordered a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Blizzard cake!  Then we got ice cream.  She ordered the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Blizzard, I ordered a Mint Oreo Blizzard and Foxy wanted a Peanut Butter Milk Shake.  It was all divine in this heat.  The only thing on the agenda this weekend is Daughter's Birthday tomorrow.  We are having a small indoor party with Wi games and cake and ice cream. 

I do have to take both kids to have physicals for band/school sports.  I can get it done a Krogers and get my shopping done, plus get 500 extra points for gas.  How cool is that? 

The rest of the weekend is just trying to stay cool!  I'll have pictures on Monday of the party, zucchini bread and probably not much else.  Have a great weekend and stay cool!

It's Friday!

Well, it's Friday and rainy here in the Cincinnati area.  Thank you God for watering the garden for us. 

Last night Daughter and I went to a Thirty-One Gifts party.  If you haven't gone, it's a good time, nice bags and such.

Tonight, I have to Son shopping for things for camp.  He leaves for church camp Sunday.  He loves camp.  I loved camp and was a camper, then a counsellor there for many years.  I've passed along that love to my children. 

Tomorrow, Foxy and I are doing a band fund raiser.  We are monitoring a couple of bounce houses at a flea market and getting a portion of the $.  Sounds easy enough.  I'll let you know on Monday.  The kids won't be able to help all day, because they are going to Kings Island and meet friends.

Sunday, is church, lunch and leave for the hour and a half trek to camp.  That makes for a long day, but I don't mind.  Son will stay until Friday evening.

It's Friday!

Had a great meal last night.  Foxy smoked western ribs.  We had garlic potatoes, salad and yeast rolls.  Yum!   He also smoked a half of pork loin, so we are having that for supper tonight.   Son asked for the ribs.  He says he is tired of chicken.  LOL.

Yesterday, during basketball camp, Son fell and hurt his tailbone.  At least I think that is what hurts.  His butt cheek hurts, but he sits just fine.  All I know is he is sore.  But he did everything we asked of him yesterday.

Today, Foxy let me know that his work is asking for voluntary time off.  Meaning, they need up to two employees per shift to take off each day.  So I gave him a couple of dates.  Of course this is without pay, so OUCH!  More couponing for me.  I told him to try and take Monday off.  Then a couple of days during Vacation Bible School.  Nice, huh?

Daughter is taking her brother and the two girls she watches to see Mr. Popper's Penguins.  I hope it's good.  It is rated PG.  Then tomorrow evening there is a free showing in our community park of How to Train Your Dragon.  I think we are all going to go to that.  Sounds like fun.  The rest of this weekend will consist of cleaning, gardening and resting. 

Sunday is Father's Day!  Happy Father's Day to all your Father's out there!  We had our celebration with my dad and Foxy last week because at the time Foxy was working (as far as I know he still is).  I am going to make a Brown Sugar Bundt Cake for Foxy.  I told him I'd making he a dessert of his choosing and that had the list of ingredients that I had on hand.  LOL.

It's Friday!

It's my first half workday of the summer!  I get out at noon today!  How fun.  Son and I are getting our hair cut, Foxy is changing the oil in Daughter's car, and I have grocery shopping to do.  Daughter has tryouts tonight for Auxillary and for captain tonight.  That is exciting!  Cross your fingers.

Daughter is also house/dog setting for some friends.  Last night Son stayed with her.  Apparently, Benny the dog kept them up barking a lot.  They came home bleary-eyed at 7:00 and Daughter went back to sleep.  Interesting.  Tonight she is suppose to have a friend over to stay with her.  She may not do this again.  The girl likes her sleep.

Tomorrow, we have a wedding.  That will be nice.  Nothing major for us to do, except celebrate with the new couple.  Son is suppose to wear the bow tie I got him.  We will see if he actually does.  We need to practice tying it.  Other than that, Sunday will be our day to celebrate with my dad and Foxy (he has to work next Sunday).  Have a great weekend!

It's finally Friday!

A lot has happened over that past two days.  First, Daughter has two job offers to consider.  One is watching two girls and a boy all summer.  The other is at a daycare facility.  She is leaning toward the first job.  She is excited.  She can go to the YMCA, Kings Island, or just stay home.

Last night we found out that Son was selected to play on  Frosh/Sophomore school basketball league.  How exciting is that?  It will be Mondays and Wednesday in June.  So Foxy can get to at least one game a week.  Most of the games are at 6 or later, so i get off work at 5:30 starting Monday, so I'll make all except the last week, because of Vacation Bible School. 

We got more planted in the garden on Wednesday.  We planted two mounds of cucumbers, watermelon, carrots, snow peas, beans (for seeds only), and we still need to plant peppers and zucchini.  I will keep a running picture blog of them each Wednesday.  Excited for that.

Foxy is working this weekend, I have contracted a cold/sinus but things are kinda of slow.  I do have a crazy couponing class tonight.  I'm pretty pysched about it.  I hope I learn a lot. 


Tomorrow, we have nothing except looking for a bow tie for Son.  We are going to a wedding next weekend and the bride wants Son to wear a bow tie.  So we are looking for a "cool" one.  And, Daughter wants a new sundress for the occassion.  We'll see what we get.

Memorial Day Weekend

Last night, So You Think You Can Dance was back on the air for season 8.  We were so excited for it, Daughter and I.  We settled down and started watching it.  The second dancer, Maryann Moore, from Marietta, GA, made me cry.  It was beautiful.  As the two hours progressed we saw a lot of interesting people.  Soon, Son and Foxy came home and sat down to watch with us.  Then the fun started.  The dancing became considerably less than par, and more, uh, well, er...interesting.  The most disturbing was this guy from California who did something called "The Insect".  He was on his hands and feet, his torso facing the sky.  He then turned his torso around from the waist, so it was facing down, but his hands and feet were still on the ground.  His head, he also had turned so he was facing almost complete backwards.  OMG!  I had nightmares!  Those people who are double-jointed that way are hard from me to watch.  This is going to be an interesting and fun season.

I made a batch of terrible brownies last night.  I am not sure if it was because I had to use margarine instead of butter, or what the problem was, but it wasn't great. 

This is a hugely busy weekend.  Today, Foxy had a meeting.  Then he is going to get the pork shoulders and start smoking the shoulders, briskets and my chicken (that is supper tonight).  He's going to give some of the pork to our friends with some corn, buns and some ice cream for dessert for supper tonight.  She broke her ankle and will not be able to be on her feet for months!  The rest of the meat is for our friend's graduation party tomorrow.

Son is going with my Dad after school to dig post holes for a fence at church.  That should be interesting.  Daughter is going to help deliver the meal, then go to a friend's graduation party.  I am going to the grocery, because I don't know when else to do it.

Tomorrow, Daughter has to be at graduation with the concert band from 9:30 am until around 1.  Son and Foxy will be cooking the rest of the meat tomorrow, then going to the graduation party.

Sunday we have church, our neighbor's graduation party, another friend's party (I think just the kids are going to that), and my parents are going to come over for a cookout. 

Monday, Daughter has a Memorial Service for band, and then another graduation party.  Sometime I want to do laundry and clean some.  Good grief. 

Not a Weekend Update

My weekend was kinda a quiet, which was good.  We did get the Danger Ranger back.  This is my husband's free 1986 Ford Ranger.  We had to have the engine overhauled.  So now we have three vehicles and no $ for gas!  LOL.

It's going to be a crazy week.  We have dance & band practice, dance recital, band concert, and trip to Washington D.C.  I'm tired just figuring it all out.  Tonight, I'm going to try and clean the bathrooms, cook supper and watch DWTS and Hawaii 5-0.

For supper tonight I have found a nice little recipe for Mexican Chicken and Rice from Taste of Home.  Looks easy, I'll let you know how it is tomorrow.

I am also trying to use more coupons.  There is a group of ladies in my town that I am getting to know and want to learn from.  If any of you have ideas and such, please let me know.

Also, yesterday my father gave us about 10 or so tomato plants.  So I want to find time to plant them because it is that time of year.  But it is rainy all week, so we'll just see.  It will be exciting to have my garden day back up and running.  I'm going to do it on Friday's this season, because last year I didn't get out there until it was time to leave for work on Thursdays.  Not very acceptable.  Foxy wants to do box gardens, but I want to plant the tomatoes in front of our back porch. They grew great there last year and Josie Belle seemed to like it too.

I have pole beans, sugar snap peas, watermelon, and I want cucumbers, zucchini and some peppers.  That's the goal.  Are you having a garden this year?

It's Friday!  What a crazy week!

In two track meets, the Monroe Jr. High Boys Track Team placed 1st in both.  One was a Quad, one was a dual.  Son placed 4th in the shotput in both.  He won his heat in the 200 meter on Wednesday, placed 4th on Thursday.  Won the 4X200 on Thursday and won their heat on Wednesday.  Overall a great time for all!

Yesterday, Son went in to the orthodontist and was having the beginning appointment for braces.  This means having the impressions, pictures, lecture on cleaning and general taking care of the teeth.  While they(Son and Foxy) were there,  they asked if they could go ahead and get the spacers put in.  So surprise!  He now has six spacers in.  This morning, he looked at me and Daughter and stated, "I can't eat my cereal." and started fake crying.  LOL.  Then he said, "My mouth hurts, but it doesn't hurt as much as a broken nose."  I told him to remember that next week.

I love Dancing With the Stars, but, how many of you are tired of them showing Maks and Kirstie's fall?  I am.  How sad is it that the entertainment news has nothing better to talk about?  They are even going to be on Oprah today.  Really?

So I worry about the government shutting down.  All those elected officials and their friends will be out of a job?  How will they ever survive without a week's pay?  I be that when they finally make everything run again that they won't have missed much in their pockets.

This is going to be an interesting weekend.

Tonight, nothing major is going on.  Maybe grocery shopping.  Tomorrow, Son will finally get his hairs cut, my great-niece's first birthday party is tomorrow, and then the high school musical,West Side Story is being performed.  Sunday is church, and then we are going to see Soul Surfer!  That is a lot of fun for the weekend!

As for my eating habits, it's been a rough week.  I'll weigh myself this evening.  Every morning I have a yogurt, and a granola bar for a mid-morning snack.  Lunch is usually leftovers and nothing until supper.  But my biggest problem in eating is after 9 pm.  I want a big bowl of ice cream or something.  So I am trying not have anything after 9 pm except maybe a cup of hot chai tea.  Let's see how that goes this week.  And, I need to get up and move.

So glad the weekend is almost here.  Daughter is getting hair cut.  I can't wait to see it.  Not sure if it will even be different, but it may.

Tonight, Daughter's boyfriend is coming over.  Foxy has worked a lot on painting the bathroom.  We are getting closer.  He has vowed that it will be done by the time the weekend is over.  So hopefully I will have pictures.

Tomorrow, I have nothing planned except getting city taxes finished,  help Hubby finish the bathroom.  It's coming on well.  Tomorrow evening, the kids are going to the movies.  I am opting to stay home because next weekend I am going to a play and to see Soul Surfer.

Sunday will be resting (I hope).

I am starting something tomorrow.  I want to lose weight.  So everyday I will put my progress on what I ate the day before and if I exercised or did an activity.  I will not put my actual weight, just if I lost any that week.  Wish me luck!

Weekend Update

Good Morning!  I hope all of you are not upset if you are getting snow.  I know that places in the deep south, like Louisiana and Alabama are getting snow.  My BIL & SIL live south of Mobile, so I'll have to see if they are getting anything fun.  We are expected to get three to five inches of the "white death" starting after midnight tonight into tomorrow night.

It was a relatively quiet weekend.  Daughter was sick on Friday, so her and I stayed home from the basketball game this weekend and watched two movies; Charlie St. Cloud and Easy A.  They both were surprises to me.  I figured Charlie St. Cloud, starring Zac Efron would be a tear-jerker, but it wasn't.  It was an okay move.  Not one of his best, but Zac did a good job in it.  The other, Easy A, starred Emma Stone.  I so enjoyed this movie.  It is definitely not for anyone under 13, in my opinion, but there was actually a storyline that was plausible.  I actually sat and watched it again with Daughter and her BF yesterday.

Saturday, Son had practice, Foxy put up a ceiling fan in Son's room and Daughter and I went to the grocery.  We then got an invite to BF's house to watch the Colts play the Jets.  That was fun.  The kids watch Dinner with Schmucks, which they didn't watch all of, so don't waste your money, made smoothies and played Just Dance on the Wii.  Foxy and I watched the game, ate some snacks, enjoying good company.

Yesterday, we went to church.  Then we came home, fixed lunch and I put away the Christmas deco, started laundry and made brownies.  I think we all took naps.  Son slept most of yesterday and is still home sick today.  Foxy and I watched the Eagles get beat : - [.  

Well, we are gearing up for more snow.  So have a great evening!

Weekend Update - Basketball Christmas Cards

Welcome to Monday!  The big news around the town...Son made the 8th grade Basketball Team!  He said that the coach told him that if he worked hard through the practices, he would probably start the 3rd game and beyond.  Well, we will see.  But we are proud of him.  Now the work begins.  He has practice or a game Monday through Saturdays from now until the middle of February.  Foxy and I thank my parents for helping us get Timm to practices this month.  They are from 5 pm to 7 pm every week night this month.  They will take him when Foxy is working, which is every day this week!  Bless his heart.

So after he made the team, we went out and purchased him some clothes to practice in.  We also purchased him black socks that go up the calf because that is what they wear.  When we got home, he took his purchases and we put them in the dryer first.  Then he took them to his room and came out with new shorts and socks on.  He asked me "Are people really that dumb?"  I asked him what he was talking about.  He said "This." and showed me a pair of socks.

He wants to know why people need to be told which foot to put a sock on?  Of course, this is coming from the boy who will wear the same pair of socks for four days!  I know...Gross!  But really, this puzzles him.

Also on Saturday, Daughter and I went and did a little shopping.  She really wanted a new Vera Bradley wristlet, so she got one, purchased with her own money.  She also bought a Vera Bradley photo album to put her Homecoming pictures in.  It was half price.  She is such a great shopper. 

While we were out I saw this odd looking, but beautiful flower.  Do you know what it is?

 On Sunday, after church, Daughter and I did a mother/daughter afternoon.  We went to a friend's and made Christmas cards.  I'll put them on here soon.  It is such a good time for us to spend together.

Weekend Update - Boring...

Well this weekend was actually kind of boring for us.  It was nice to just not do much, but I did do a lot.

Friday was the football game.  It was the other team's homecoming, so our band only got to help perform pre-game (a.k.a. the Star Spangled Banner).

The only drum member without a hat is Son.  He usually plays in the pit and looking up and down is hard and the hat will not stay on.

Daughter is the one looking at the camera.  They are all beautiful!

Saturday, we cleaned a bit and then Daughter, Son, and I went shopping.  Daughter was looking for accessories for her dress.  She found a pretty necklace, and a hair clip that she will have the hair dresser put up.    Son got a new game, which I was going to wait and get him in a few weeks because of his surgery, but why wait? 

So then Daughter's BFF started drama and mad it a miserable evening for her.  So we decided it was an ice cream night, so we took everyone, including her BF, and got UDF.  I actually got a mocha cappaccino milkshake and I am disappointed to say it was terrible.  I love coffee ice cream, but i will never get that again.

Yesterday we had church, then a baby shower for a sweet friend.  But, we barely got it started and Son called me saying he was sick.  Daughter stayed and had fun with Gma, and I went home to stay with Son and do most of the laundry. 

Did anyone else see Desperate Housewives?  What did you think?  I thought parts of it were hysterical and Brian Austin Green?  So cute! 

What the Friday!

It's Friday!  Or as my two favorite radio personalities say, "What the Friday!"  I get to leave work 45 minutes early so I can meet Foxy, Son, Gpa and Gma at the hospital.  I feel more sad that Daughter went to school, I may miss the first football game, and that Son will miss his first chance to play in the Marching band.  There is next week though.  

 

When I got home last night, this was parked in front of a neighbor's house.

  If you look closer, you can tell that it's a bad paint job.  It's a pretty shade of pink, though.

 

 This is Daughter.  Her top is gorgeous, don't you think?  Wednesday night at the radio show the band performed outside of the Buffalo Wings and Rings.  See the pom-pom in there.  That is what she does.  Also, you can see the bruising on her cheek from her wisdom teeth surgery.  It is much better, but a reddish-yellow now.  Tonight they are unveiling their new props (there is tall flags, ribbons, and air blades.  I hope to get pictures of each and her during performances in the near future.

 

Thanks to all for your well wishes and concerns.  We'll get through.

Weekend Update June 11 -13/When it rain, it pours!

Welcome to another week!  And it's Monday, so let's here it for Monday!  *chirp, chirp*

And this Monday has been eventful and it's barely 8:30.  This is a crazy week.  It is VBS week at church.  So I will leave my house at 6:50 AM (most mornings) and not get home until 9 PM each night.  So this AM, I pack a back of shorts, flip flops and my VBS shirt, a lunch, and what I am sending out Brittany (I hope she likes it).  I take all that to the Edge and I realize that last night, Daughter and BFF said something about doing something with my car keys.  So I run back in the house looking for them.  No luck in finding them. 

No, I didn't wake up Daughter, but she will find them today.  I just stole my hubby's key and took off.  Five minutes late.  Okay, that's not so bad, right?  Well, I drive the 4 miles to the highway, and as I approach, the radio says there is an accident right at my exit/entrance.  I see that no one is moving and that we it is backing off, so I drive around my city to my alternative route (which usually takes me an extra 10 minutes).  I drove like a bat out of you know what, but I made it to work within five minutes.  I called before, so no one was upset or surprised.

I work on the Third Floor of a seven story building.  I walk into the entrance and this man is standing at the elevelators pushing the buttons.  One elevator door is opening and the lights on the buttons are just blinking.  I realize that the elevators are down too.  I see the Building Maintenance Man, Ja-Mall and he tells me they are down.  So I climb the two flights of steps.  I can handle that. 

I walk into my office and the Office Manager (OM) tells me that there have been power outages here all weekend and there is no air conditioning.    GREAT!  Just the perfect morning.  But to be honest, when something like this happens, I don't get up set.  I let everyone else get mad, I listen to them and then I sympathize.  Luckily I am the receptionist so I sit alone.  I am not back in the office where 60 other people are.  They all keep coming up here telling me how much cooler it is here than back there.  So, I sit here at my desk with my large Raspberry Lemonade and try to stay cooler.  It's going to be very humid and nasty today, but at least I'm not on the seventh floor!

This was an eventful weekend.  Friday was quiet.  We went out to eat to celebrate that Son is now a member of the Monroe Fighting Hornets Drum line.  He is playing cymbals.  We are very proud and happy for him.  So I have two kids in marching band and am happy about that.

 Daughter got two woven bracelets for her and BFF in the school colors. I have a picture, but it won't download right.  Must be the heat or electric.

Saturday afternoon we went shopping for Daughter.  She needs a few things before church camp.  We first went down to eat Gold Star Chili and support Miss Varsity Cheerleader in her new job.  Then we went looking.  She didn't see too much she was interested in.  Oh well.  Foxy got some new Under Armor.  He works in a plant and they are really good to keep him cool.

Sunday was set up day for VBS.  We got what we needed at the store, then went and set up a lot.  I can't get my phone to send pics to my email at the moment, so I will be looking at that.  But hopefully I can do some pictures this week of our fun VBS.  

Now, I am excited because I think the air conditioning came back on!  Have a great Monday.

Weekend Update - May 8 & 9

Hi, how was your weekend?  Did you spend time with your Mother?  Did your children spend time with you?  I hope so! Foxy worked all weekend.

Friday night, Son had a friend spend the night.We went and got pizza.  I order two  pizzas for us and we ended up bringing most of it home  It was okay, because I didn't cook all weekend and it was good for leftovers for Foxy to take to work.  We came home and then went for ice cream. 

 While at the hospital, we saw this.  Did you know that Cincinnati is known for the Flying Pig Marathon.  There are lots of winged pigs all around the city.

Saturday, Daughter and I went and got donuts for everyone.  Our neighbor passed her driving test, so she and Daughter went for a drive.  I took the boys to the grocery store, then Big T went home.  BFF came over and we went driving.  We took the new Saturn over to my parents house so Mom could see the vehicle and then we decided to drive down to Cincinnati to visit our Associate Minister, his wife, and their newborn at one of the many hospitals in the region.  That baby is beautiful, I tell you.  We then drove back to the house, picked up Foxy and went out to celebrate Mother's Day.  We went to Red Robins for their tremendous hamburgers.  We also got appetizers.  Their hamburgers are to die for.  I got a Bonzai Burger.  Grilled pineapple, teryaki sauce, pepperjack cheese.  Ahhhhh!

Then we went home and I stayed up and watched Betty White on Saturday Night Live.  OMGosh!  Wasn't that one of the funniest SNL's this year?  Betty White is hysterical.  It was so much fun to watch.  I think Chloris Leachman should also be on.  Having all the ladies from the past back on was so much fun.  I think they should do an all-women SNL some day, with just a few men scattered throughout.  That would be interesting to watch.


Yesterday, me, Daughter, Son and BFF went to church.  After church we took Son to my parents house, picked up my mother and the rest of us went to a high school production of Annie Get Your Gun.  What a wonderful performance it was.  The girl who played Annie was really good at it.  We then went took everyone home, and went home.  I started laundry, cleaned part of the dining room, and sat and watched Desperate Housewives.  I tried to watch Army Wives, but I fell asleep.  Thank goodness for DVRs.  I will watch Army Wives soon.

Monday's Weekend Update

Happy Monday...or not.  It rained here all weekend, well, mostly yesterday, but we haven't seen the sun since like, Thursday.  Luckily, we do not have the flooding some of you are going through.  But of course we the fog lifted this morning, there was the sun.  Just as most of us are going back to work.  But, it was a good weekend anyway.

Friday evening, I went with Foxy, Daughter, BFF, Gpa, Gma, and Miss Deb to see the movie Letters To God and out for pizza before hand.  What an amazing movie.  It was truly inspirational.  I hope that each of you see it or rent it when it comes to DVD.  There were 30 to 40 of us in the theater, watching and by the end of this movie no one moved, except Gpa.  When the credits rolled, we sat there.

The reason Gpa got up and left was this movie showed a little boy going through cancer and treatments.  Since my dad just went through that about 10 months ago, it was just too soon for him to watch it.  But he really liked the movie too.

Saturday was kind of busy.  Daughter and I went and got the oil changed in the Edge.  While we were there this is what was at the Ford dealership.  It made me ask myself and Daughter a few questions...

Why were there bicycles at the car dealership?  Did they get good amounts on their trade-ins?  Were they being serviced?  My husband's question was, Who had their license taken away and had to ride to work?

Then I made Daughter drive.  She did great!  We stopped at the grocery on the way home and here is were she parked.

See that red Edge waaay, out there?  She slipped it into a space where no other cars were around.  She did fine, but she is nervous about trying to park by people.  She did well, though.  I am proud of her.  She is getting better all the time.

Later that evening, we all went to church for the annual Mother-Daughter Banquet.  This year's theme was My Childhood Doll.  Here are a few pictures from that.  The lady who thought up the theme and did most of the co-ordination and decorating is simply amazing.  Actually, so is her mother.  Her mother made all the dolls (over 100) and all the cradles and probably all the booklets.  That family is amazing.

Isn't this centerpiece adorable?  They gave 13 away as door prizes, along with other dolls.  Mainly two Raggedy Ann's that our special speaker made.

This was our program.  The colors were purple, yellow and green.  So pretty.

The meal was made by several in our church and the men of the church served us.  It was such a fun evening.  Mom's name was drawn for a doorprize and picked a cute little Amish doll to take home.  She loves books on the Amish life, so this was perfect for her.

Sunday we went to church, came home, went to eat and I took Daughter to meet up with friends to make posters for Marching Band Drill Team Tryouts.  Then Son, BFF, and I went to get Son a new pair of tennis shoes.  His feet are still growing!  He is now 5'9" and in a size 10.5 shoe.  He said, "They look like clown shoes!"

Welcome, Weekend Update

Thanks for all the new Friday Followers that have joined me in this adventure.  I hope I am following all of you too!  I love to meet new friends.  Monday  is my weekend update day. Today I am doing them in pictures.

Friday night Son, Daughter and I went to Subway for supper. Son had a friend come over and spend the night. Big T is a great kid and one of Son's bestest.  At 9pm, BFF came in and said..."I haven't got my ice cream yet."  We started to go after choir practice on Wednesday, but something came up.  So I looked at Foxy and said, "What time does DQ close?"  He kidded me and said, "9."  No, so we all jumped in his caddy and took off.  The nice thing was that it was DQ's 25th anniversary and they were having a BOGO.  Buy a Blizzard and get one for $0.25.  So we paid $11 for 6 blizzards.  I picked a Oreo Cheesecake.  It was good, but once I tasted Foxy's Raspberry Truffle, that is my new favorite.  But I love almost all of the flavors.  While there, four teenage boys came in, got their treats and sat down.  Daughter, who is usually a bit shy, was teasing with Son and Big T.  As we are getting ready to leave, she spies $0.50 on another table.  She grabbed it up and said, "Look, I got paid!"  BFF, started and laughing and the boys all got quiet and started watching her.  She was smiling and giggling.  We were cracking up at her.  BFF told her it was a tip. It was a fun adventure.

Saturday Foxy worked and Daughter, Son and I went to the library.  I got a new book to read.  See?

I like Mitch Albom.  I read The Five People You Meet in Heaven and I love true stories.  So I am excited to read this one.

After the library, we went to a mall to do some summer shopping.   Son needed shorts and shirts and Daughter need the same.

Nice colors, 'eh?  The pants are his latest obsession.  The skinny jeans.  Not sure what the appeal is, but they do fit him better than anything else.

Cute, huh?  So next Daughter and I decide we need bras.  We are both starting to run low.  So we stop in at Victoria's Secret.  When we get into the dressing room to try some on, we see this on the mirror...

LOL.  Isn't that what we were in there for?

So to round out our shopping trip, I found this shirt in a specialty shop that made me laugh.

The little heart.  Crack me up!  We then met up with BFF and brought him with us to Old Navy for a few pairs of flip flops and a couple of capris.  Then we went in search of lunch.  After lunch we took BFF to his house so he could go with the rest of his evening and we came home.  We unloaded all the clothes and went to the grocery store.  Then home where I made Turkey Friend Rice with broccoli and we watched the movie The Lovely Bones.

Daughter read the book and wanted to see the movie.  We did, and it was really good.  Stanly Tucci was the bad guy and we kept screaming "Creeper!" at him.  It freaked Daughter out and when she went to bed, she thought someone was at her bedroom door, so she came back out to the living room. 

Sunday was rainy.  We got up andDaughter drove us to church.  Then came home and I did my Sunday 'thang', sorting laundry.  Our friend is in a dance competition not far from here, so we went to see Miss A dance.  Very exciting to see.  The dances we saw were pretty good.  Miss A's dances were awesome!  Here is a picture or two I took there.

Well, that's about the extent of our busy weekend.  Hope yours was as much fun as mine!

Weekend update

How was your weekend?  Mine was okay. 

Friday evening, Fox, Daughter, Son, BFF, and my parents went with me to see a high school performance of the musical Grease.  It was pretty good.  I thought all the actors and actresses did a great job and the dancing was really good.    However, I don't remember it being quite so, so...well, it just seemed to jump around more than I remember.  The flow of the songs and the story seemed off.  I could have been me. 

Saturday, Foxy worked and Son went with his friend to the season opening of Kings Island.  So Daughter and I ran some errands and took BFF to see the movie The Bounty Hunter.  You know, the one with Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler?  It was cute.  I enjoyed the twists and turns and seeing the guy from SNL get beat up (I think he is annoying), but I probably won't see that one again.  Unless someone else rents it.

Sunday, I didn't feel well.  I got up with a headache and I just felt bad.  I went to church, the choir sang, we went out to lunch with friends, and then down to a strip mall.  Then I came home and slept for a while.  Then I went to a retirement village and sang and led music with our church.  I am still not 100%, but I am better.  So it was not a major weekend.  But that is okay.  I do not always need to be running, right?
