Friday 5: Prom Revisited

Tonight is our high school's Senior Prom.  Our neighbor is going and she is very excited.  She has a new dress, getting a new hair do, and she has been tanning for weeks!  LOL.  I text her this morning and asked her when she was leaving.  She text me back and told me around five pm.  I am sad, because I don't get off work until then.  So Foxy and Daughter will have to go over and Ooh and Aah over her dress and all.  Every time we have talked to Miss Varsity Cheerleader, she has told us the countdown days until Prom.

So that got me thinking about my prom, X amount of years ago.  I wish I had a picture on my computer.  But, I don't.  So here are my Friday 5 about what I remember of Prom 1986.

1.  I had a short dress.  It was black on the top, with white crenalin on the bottom, with a red sash.

2.  My date drove me in an MG convertible, with the top down.  LOL.  Good thing I had short hair that didn't go anyway.

3.  Another girl at the dance had the exact same dress on only with pink on top.  I never saw her, but I heard she was upset about it.  I don't know why though.  Yeah, the same dress, but different colors.  BIG Deal!

4.  The afterprom was not until the next day, so I got home around 2 am.  We had fun, though.

5.  We went on a cruise boat on the Ohio River the next afternoon for lunch.  It was sunny, peaceful and a good time for all of us to unwind after the night before.

Pretty tame, right?  Yeah, that's me.  I am not the party animal.

Honestly!

Vandy from the Testosterone Three and Me gave me an Award!  Gee thanks!  And if that's not enough, I have to tell honest facts about me and give it to five other bloggers!  So look out, people!

1.  I am a piler.  I have piles of books on my bed side table, the end table, the piano, the table, the desk, and the bathroom sink!  There!  I admitted it.

2.  I hate to be late.  I am almost always 20 minutes early for work.  That gives me time to come in, open up the conference room, get a cup of coffee and get my day going.

3.  I like doing dishes, but that is the only housework I enjoy.  The rest of it can wait, and wait and wait.

4.  I love to sing and have a great time!

5.  I don't need much sleep, much to the chagrin of my husband.

6.  I am OBSESSED with the tv show 24. I have never missed an episode.  My children know not to bother me on Mondays from 9 pm - 10 pm.  I don't know what it is.  I think it is a culmination of Kiefer Sutherland, the concept, the drama, and the what-ifs.

7.  I am thrilled to no end at the people who are starting to read my blog.  I am always scared that it isn't very good, though.

8.  I love my dog, Josie Belle.  My kids think I love her more than I love them and at times I may.  But she doesn't talk back and I can throw her outside when she makes a mess!

9.  I do not like to fight or be mixed up on a major conflict just to be a part of it.  If I am mad, I usually go quiet and shut down.  But it takes a lot to make me that angry.

10.  If I am honest, I am not a people person.  This means that I don't have a lot of friends.  I love texting and email and blogging, and the few friends I am close to (I think there are 3 or 4 and my family), I would do anything for.  But as for the rest of the world, go away.  People are mean.

So here are the five I pick to receive this award.  I read them every day.

Wacky Wednesday

Welcome to all my new Blog Buddies!  I am so happy to have so many new friends!

Today at See Foxes?  I always try and give you a look at my wacky family.  I love each and every one of the them and I thank the Lord for them because if they weren't around, what else would I have to write about?  Right?

Daughter, Son and I were sitting on our sofa.  It is a reclining sofa, so the two end seats recline with footrests.  I was on one end and Son on the other, with Daughter in the middle.  Daughter wanted to recline too, so she put one leg on my footrest and one leg on Son's footrest, sharing with us.  Son looked at her and said, "Isn't that uncomfortable?", as her legs were spread out quite far.  She said, "Not when you are flexible."  Our teenage neighbor was in gymnastics and cheerleading.  She taught Daughter, who was around four at the time,  to do the straddles.  For years, Daughter would sit on the floor in front of the tv, in the straddle position, not even thinking about it. She would even lean down and put her chin on the floor.  It took me a long time to break her of that!

Last night, Daughter drove BFF home.  She was a bit nervous because he lives in the middle of a steep hill.  He said, "Don't leave yet.  Let me go get my Grandma and little Sis to watch you drive away."  So we waited.  As we were waiting, I told her to keep her foot on the brake hard so she wouldn't go backward down the hill.  She stated that she didn't want to do a burn out or anything either.  As soon as they came out, she mashed the gas and did a huge burnout up the hill.  I was cracking up the whole way.  I called BFF and he was laughing so hard!  He loved it.  Daughter was a bit embarassed, but at least we got that out of the way too.  It was really funny.

Son keeps telling us he wants to go to a military school.  I think it's admirable, that he already knows he would like to follow in his oldest sister's steps and go in to the service.  So my parents took a little trip to Pennsylvania and Virgina last week and stopped at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI).  We have been kidding Son that Gpa was going to pick up an application for him.  So Son called Gma and asked her about it.  She said they had toured the facility and all we had to do was come up with $36.000 a year!  A.YEAR!  WOW!  Son told us that and Foxy looked at him and stated, "I'll just wait until you are 16 and put you in the Army.  It will be much cheaper!  LOL

Have a great day!

Welcome, Weekend Update

Thanks for all the new Friday Followers that have joined me in this adventure.  I hope I am following all of you too!  I love to meet new friends.  Monday  is my weekend update day. Today I am doing them in pictures.

Friday night Son, Daughter and I went to Subway for supper. Son had a friend come over and spend the night. Big T is a great kid and one of Son's bestest.  At 9pm, BFF came in and said..."I haven't got my ice cream yet."  We started to go after choir practice on Wednesday, but something came up.  So I looked at Foxy and said, "What time does DQ close?"  He kidded me and said, "9."  No, so we all jumped in his caddy and took off.  The nice thing was that it was DQ's 25th anniversary and they were having a BOGO.  Buy a Blizzard and get one for $0.25.  So we paid $11 for 6 blizzards.  I picked a Oreo Cheesecake.  It was good, but once I tasted Foxy's Raspberry Truffle, that is my new favorite.  But I love almost all of the flavors.  While there, four teenage boys came in, got their treats and sat down.  Daughter, who is usually a bit shy, was teasing with Son and Big T.  As we are getting ready to leave, she spies $0.50 on another table.  She grabbed it up and said, "Look, I got paid!"  BFF, started and laughing and the boys all got quiet and started watching her.  She was smiling and giggling.  We were cracking up at her.  BFF told her it was a tip. It was a fun adventure.

Saturday Foxy worked and Daughter, Son and I went to the library.  I got a new book to read.  See?

I like Mitch Albom.  I read The Five People You Meet in Heaven and I love true stories.  So I am excited to read this one.
After the library, we went to a mall to do some summer shopping.   Son needed shorts and shirts and Daughter need the same.

Here is what Son got...

Nice colors, 'eh?  The pants are his latest obsession.  The skinny jeans.  Not sure what the appeal is, but they do fit him better than anything else.

Here is an outfit that Daughter got.

Cute, huh?  So next Daughter and I decide we need bras.  We are both starting to run low.  So we stop in at Victoria's Secret.  When we get into the dressing room to try some on, we see this on the mirror...

LOL.  Isn't that what we were in there for?

So to round out our shopping trip, I found this shirt in a specialty shop that made me laugh.

The little heart.  Crack me up!  We then met up with BFF and brought him with us to Old Navy for a few pairs of flip flops and a couple of capris.  Then we went in search of lunch.  After lunch we took BFF to his house so he could go with the rest of his evening and we came home.  We unloaded all the clothes and went to the grocery store.  Then home where I made Turkey Friend Rice with broccoli and we watched the movie The Lovely Bones.

Daughter read the book and wanted to see the movie.  We did, and it was really good.  Stanly Tucci was the bad guy and we kept screaming "Creeper!" at him.  It freaked Daughter out and when she went to bed, she thought someone was at her bedroom door, so she came back out to the living room.

Sunday was rainy.  We got up andDaughter drove us to church.  Then came home and I did my Sunday 'thang', sorting laundry.  Our friend is in a dance competition not far from here, so we went to see Miss A dance.  Very exciting to see.  The dances we saw were pretty good.  Miss A's dances were awesome!  Here is a picture or two I took there.

My son liked this shirt.  LOL
Here are some girls in pretty costumes!

Well, that's about the extent of our busy weekend.  Hope yours was as much fun as mine!

Friday Five - Scenes from Around the House

Last night, Foxy worked a little outside around the house.  So I snapped a few shots of things I love about the outside of my house.  Here we go...

1.  Welcome to my home.  I love having people over.

2.  Below the sign is my lion.  In my husband's hometown, a man would make these out of concrete.  They weigh a ton!  The creator of this was in his 80s or 90s when he made this one.  It was sitting in Father-in-Law's flower bed.  He let Foxy have it.  I do not give him a bow during the holidays or anything.  One time, though, Daughter and BFF colored him with sidewalk chalk.

3.  Something I don't have a picture of, but will later this summer is a deck.  We are going to put a big porch on the front of our house.  Lion will be moved, but probably to just on the deck.  That will be determined at a later date.

4.  I forget were this well pump came from, but I plan to use Rustoleum on it, but not sure what color.  This is going to be our no-fuss flower bed.  I was thinking red, like my front door, but not sure.  Any suggestions?

5.  The last scene is just my imagination:  In this picture above, I want a no-fuss floweresque bed.  I have bushes on either end of the spectrum, and I have a three-piece stone alligator that I love and want to keep there.   I hate geraniums, so that will not be a flower of choice.  Not sure what though.  Maybe some mums.  I love them.

So that's some of my favorite things about the front of my house.  What do you like about your house?

Pictures of Enjoyment

People don't learn to enjoy pictures because they seldom look at them; and they seldom look at pictures because they have never learnt to enjoy them.
-Mortimer, (Charles) Raymond Bell
  Try  Anything Once.

Today is what I call "Here is what I am enjoying this week" post.

I know, I know, I need a pedicure badly.  But it is so nice to wear flip flops!

This is Josie Belle.  She is enjoying being out on the grass on her chain in the sunshine.  She totally loves it out there!  I love seeing her happy.

I also enjoyed finishing The Time Traveler's Wife.  It was a really good book.

What are you enjoying this week?

At this rate, she will take a year to get her license, Madonna and Thank you, America!

This is my baby!

This evening, Daughter finally had her second driving lesson.  Here is how it went...

Cast of Characters:
Daughter - herself, the timid 15.5 yr old
BFF - Daughter's best friend who is dying to get behind the wheel of anything
    Mom - Me

BFF, grabbing Daughter's shoulders:  When are you going to drive?  I want to see you drive.

Daughter:  Not now.

BFF:  Why not?

Daughter:  I don't want to.

BFF:  Seriously?  I have been waiting a long time to see you behind the wheel.

Daughter, looking at me for support:  Fine, let's go if it will shut you up and get you off my back.

Mom:  Really?  Okay, we will just go down to the end of the street and drive around the cul-de-sac.  Then we will see how it goes from there.

I grab my keys and my wallet, Daughter grabs her wallet and BFF jumps in the back seat, all smiles.

Mom:  Do you want to back the Edge down the driveway?

Daughter:  No!

Mom:  Okay, I'll do it.
So I back down the car and face it toward the cul-de-sac.  There is one car parked on the street.  I put the Edge in park, and Daughter and I exchange places.

Mom:  Now, put your foot on the brake.  No, your other leg.  Do not use your left leg.  Okay, now keep your foot on the brake until you have the car in Drive.  That's it.  Now, barely give the car some gas.

As Daughter does this, she doesn't turn the wheel and ends up going over the curb into the front yard.

Mom:  Okay, turn the wheel.  Now stop.  Stop!

The Edge comes to a halt.

BFF is laughing hysterically in the backseat.  Mom is giggling.

Mom:  Look at where your feet are.  (Her left foot is on the brake.)

Daughter puts the car in Park and says:  I think we should trade places now.

Mom:  No, you are doing fine.  Turn the wheel.  Keep your foot on the brake until you put the car in Drive.  Then let your foot off the brake.

Slowly, Daughter does this.  The car just sits there.

Mom:  Okay, now give it a little gas.  Good.

The car moves forward and to the left, back on to the road.  Daughter drives the car down the street, past the parked car and slowly she manuevers the Edge around the circle.

Mom:  You are doing great!  Now, wave at Neighbor as we go past.

Daughter honks the horn and waves at Neighbor.  He looks up from what he is doing, back down, and then back up again.  He stares at us all the back down the road to our house.  LOL.

When we arrive back down at our driveway, I ask Daughter if she would like to drive through the neighborhood.  She promptly says no, puts the car in park and tells me I need to put the car in the driveway (she would have had to back it up to get it in the driveway without hitting the mail box or the wagon on the other side of the road).

BFF:  Can I drive around the neighborhood?

Mom:  No, but you can pull it into the driveway.

BFF:  That's not fun.

Mom:  That's all you get until you get a license.

Thus ended the second driving lesson of Daughter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have to say something about tv last night.  First, a HUGE thank you to America for finally voting Kate Gosselin off of DWTS.  That was as painful as childbirth, but without the result of a baby.  She was not my favorite and I just was not a fan.

and GLEE!.  The Power of Madonna was pretty cool.  I really liked the storyline.  I liked the songs.  Daughter really liked the song with the Cheerios, Kurt and Mercedes.  She said that one was done with Madonna and Justin Timberlake.  She said it was new and she liked it!

But LOVED GLEE!  I am glad that Rachael and Emma chose not to go through with the sex.  It does say something interesting about our society, doesn't it?  What is your take on it?

Post It Tuesday!

It's Tuesday again!  I love Post-It Tuesday.  I always think of things I put on Post-Its as important items to remember, so here are what is important to me this week.

My favorite show of the week.  And, I do love a lot of Madonna songs.  I read that Matthew Morrisey (Mr. Shue) was not a Madonna fan until they started shooting this episode.  I am so pysched!

Do any of you do this?  Make a list, go to the grocery and get what you consider everything you will need for the week, and then realize that you have forgotten three things, or your family tells you they need something else (even though you asked them and/or they went to the store with you)?

Last night, I walked in to Daughter's room to tell BFF to get ready to go home.  Daughter and BFF and Son were all on the bed.  Daughter, swung her legs around to the side of the bed at the same time BFF scooted down to the end of the bed.  The end of the bed collapsed, the metal pieces under the bed crashing to the floor.  Sigh.  We have had the bed less than 6 months.

I hope each of you have a great Post-It Tuesday!

Weekend update

How was your weekend?  Mine was okay.

Friday evening, Fox, Daughter, Son, BFF, and my parents went with me to see a high school performance of the musical Grease.  It was pretty good.  I thought all the actors and actresses did a great job and the dancing was really good.    However, I don't remember it being quite so, so...well, it just seemed to jump around more than I remember.  The flow of the songs and the story seemed off.  I could have been me.

Saturday, Foxy worked and Son went with his friend to the season opening of Kings Island.  So Daughter and I ran some errands and took BFF to see the movie The Bounty Hunter.  You know, the one with Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler?  It was cute.  I enjoyed the twists and turns and seeing the guy from SNL get beat up (I think he is annoying), but I probably won't see that one again.  Unless someone else rents it.

Sunday, I didn't feel well.  I got up with a headache and I just felt bad.  I went to church, the choir sang, we went out to lunch with friends, and then down to a strip mall.  Then I came home and slept for a while.  Then I went to a retirement village and sang and led music with our church.  I am still not 100%, but I am better.  So it was not a major weekend.  But that is okay.  I do not always need to be running, right?

So, what did you do?

Random Friday 5

Usually today is "Friday Five", but I found so many random things this morning, I am doing a Random Friday 5 blog.

1.  The high school football coach resigned yesterday.  That will upset a few people.  He has been with the program just two years.

2.  Driving in to work this AM, there was so much traffic.  When we started to get bunched up, cars were shooting in and out of lanes, jockeying for position.  It was crazy!

3.  Why did someone leave a roll of toilet paper on my desk?

4.  My new refrigerator comes this AM!  I am uber-excited!

5.  Grease is the word.  Going to see my niece in her high school production of it.

What are your plans for the weekend?

What is your randomness for this Friday?

Goodby and Enjoy!

Here is what I have enjoyed this week.
1.  This has been a fast week.

2. Plenty of sunshine.  We are 10 degrees warmer on average for the month of April.  But, the pollen count is 16 times what it should be too.  Poor people with allergies.

3.  I am still enjoying the books I am reading.  I am reading The Time Traveller's Wife and The Shack.

4.  I enjoyed GLEE on Tuesday evening.

5.  This week, I have gone out at lunch time and enjoyed the weather.  It has been nice.  Not something I would normally do, but I think I have a touch of fever...SPRING FEVER!

Now I have one more item to touch on.  I am sad.  Last night was the last time I would see new adventures of her life.  Her trials, frustrations, loves, losses, and especially her optimistic view on life in general.  Betty Suarez was an inspiration to me.  The show was kooky, and I loved looking at the fashion industry through a magazine.  Goodbye, Betty.  I will miss you and your friends.

Wacky Wednesday - I Helped A Stranger

Usually I post about my crazy family, but today I am a bit more serious.

As I pulled in to the parking spot this morning, I saw a crow swoop down and grab something furry.  I watched with wonder as the crow landed.  It held the furry creature down with its claws and picked and pecked at it with that black beak.  The victim struggled to get away.  It squirmed and twisted, trying to aggravate the black feathered villain.  The crow grabbed it up and tried to fly with it again.  But it was pretty big.  It set it down in the middle of the lane, where the cars drive to get to the parking lot itself.

I got out of my vehicle and walked closer to the crime.  I saw that the victim was a cute, brown baby bunny.  I wasn't angry or mad, just sad.  This is how life goes.  I walked over toward the predator and its prey, and crow hopped off the bunny.  The bunny just laid there for a for what seemed like minutes, but was only a few seconds.  I stood there and told it to get up.  I looked at the crow and told it to leave.  The crow flew up to the closest tree and kept watch over its victim.  The injured animal struggled to flip over on to its stomach and tried to hop away.  It made it a few steps, then laid down to rest.  Then got up and hopped some more.  I kept encouraging it. Its hind legs or back must have been injured, but it made it under a parked car, headed for safety.  Then I walked into the building.  I tried to do what I could to help the poor defenseless fur ball out.  I guess I did my good deed for the day.

Post-It and Picture It Tuesday

Today is Picture Day and Stick-It

Now the Fun Begins!

Hi.  How are ya?  How was your weekend?  Mine?  Oh, it was fine.  Actually not as busy as normal, which was nice, but eventful anyway.

Friday I got off work an hour and a half early, so I could take Daughter for her post-surgery appointment.  Dr. G said all looked well, she needs to keep up the good work, and she should massage her incisions, 10 minutes each with a moisturizing lotion.  Not sure what that is about, and when Daughter heard that, she exclaimed..."What?  That will take almost an hour! (She has five incisions.)  Dr. G just smiled and started making fun of her by acting like he was on the phone with his friends.  LOL.

She asked him if he was going to let her go back to gym class.  He asked "Why?"

She stated that it is safer to participate in gym than to watch them play from the sidelines because of some of the athletes get a bit crazy and she was dodging soccer balls before spring break.

He told her that she can do anything she wanted to...anything legal, he stressed.  She thought that was funny.

Friday evening, we went to dinner and that was it.  Not a big night.  Foxy worked all weekend too.

Saturday:  We got up, and got ready for the morning of errands; library, grocery, etc.  I asked Daughter about going to get her temps.  She said, "Uh, could I do it another time.  I am not ready."

"Okay." I say, and stuff her birth certificate and SS card into my purse.  We go off to the library.  As we are walking up the steps to the library, I asked her why she didn't want to try for her temps.  "Is it because the whole place is scary and confusing?"

She confirmed that it was all that.  We renew the books we want to keep and start back to the car.  I look at her and say, "Let's go try for your temps."

She says, "Okay."  So off we go.  We get there and it's full of people just waiting to get their temps.  We pull a number off the ring and sit down.  I ask her if she wants to take one of the books and study a little.  She says she doesn't.  Finally, the call her number.  Her and I walk up to the desk and hand the number to the clerk.  She asks Daughter what she wants.  Daughter tells her to take her temps license.  So the lady asks her a few more questions and asks her to wait in the seat next to the desk.  When someone finished, the clerk tells Daughter to go sit at that computer and she may begin when she sees her name on the screen.  So for the next 45 minutes to an hour, Son and I sit and wait.  Biting our nails, looking at our phones, holding our breath and praying.  Finally she emerges victorious!  She said she read every question that she didn't understand, at least three times.  It took her a while, but she passed!  We are very proud of her.  Now the scary part begins, teaching her to drive.    How do I do it?

Friday Five - Gleeful

On Tuesday, the spring season of Glee begins.  I have always liked shows that mix song, dance and acting.  I loved the tv show, Fame.  I like variety shows, but they are not the same as shows like this.  I could go on and on about the good things of Glee.  But I will just do my Friday 5 as the top things I like about it.

1.  The songs that have been used have been great!  The harmony...the kids voices are amazing!

2.  The story lines are not cheezy.  When Quinn found out she was pregnant, she wasn't happy.  She cried her eyes out.  That is what most normal teens would do.
3.  I love that Jane Lynch (Sue, the Cheerios coach) is so spiteful and mean.  She is perfect in this roll!

4.  Mr. Schuester is adorable!
5.  I can watch this with my daughter and not cringe!

Speaking of my daughter, she had been having, uh..., female problems, so I took her to my OB-GYN yesterday.  I tried hard to really explain how things worked and what to expect.  She is not big on surprises like that.

Well everything went fine and we found out a few new things about her, but the dr. didn't do a full exam (thank the Lord).  So as she was getting dressed, I helped her snap her bra back together, and then she put her other things back on.  When she was pulling down her shirts, I looked at her weird.  She asked what?  I asked her how many shirts did she have on.  She said two.  "Are you sure?" I asked.

"Why?"  She asked.  I told her that it looked like three.  She started to laugh and told me that the undershirt is a tank top with extra support for your boobs.  So it looks like you have more on.  I am happy that she is having the more than less thing going on.

My new Love

Last night, everything worked for the best.  Foxy, Daughter, Son, and BFF went looking, just looking mind you for a refrigerator.  We had the washer worked last Saturday and my husband mentioned our fridge to the repairman.  He was nice enough to look at it and told him that because it was at least 25+ years old, finding parts to repair it would be a nightmare.  Our best bet would be to purchase a new one.  So, after mulling that over and realizing that living without a fridge would be a bad thing, we went looking last night.

I am the type of person that hates to shop for anything.  I also know what I really want and when I find it, I get it.  Like with my Ford Edge.  I sat in a Saturn View, which I thought I would love, but hated how I felt in it.  So when I sat in the Edge, it was love at first sight.  Period.  We started looking at appliances at Lowe's.  Now, I had my mind set on going to Sears for this purchase.  I was thinking, I have a card to use, Sears always gives us a decent deal and price, etc.  But, when I saw this....

I was in L.O.V.E.  The best part?  It actually was a scratch and dent piece.  They unloaded it Tuesday off the truck, took off the cardboard and saw a little bitty dent in the right side (as you look at it).  That side will be against a wall anyway.  So they took $350 off, and I still could get the extended warranty because it had not been repaired.  So next Friday morning, this will be in my house!  I am pretty excited.

As for the old fridge?  It will go into the garage as a second fridge for pop and leftovers and such.  We had one for quiet a while until it died last summer.  I have found that I can not live happily with just one fridge.  We cook too much stuff, or something.  But I am excited.

Movie Review: The Last Song

Isn't this beautiful?  This was taken in my neighborhood yesterday, with my camera phone!  This tree is in full bloom and yesterday was such a sunny, warm day.  I just love spring days like this.

SPOILER ALERT:  I am going to be talking about the movie The Last Song, in detail, so if you don't want to know...don't read.

Last night Daughter, BFF and I went to see The Last Song.  I have read the book, the kids have not. This made for an interesting viewing.  I really loved the book.  I boo-hooed through the end of the book and the movie.  I anticipated the father's illness and death.  I didn't tell them anything about the movie, so Daughter and BFF had no idea, though BFF asked me if someone dies, but I wouldn't tell.  The love story was played wonderfully in both medias.  Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth both made it very believable.  Mercy, he is a handsome guy!    There were parts of the book that are expected not to be in a two-hour movie.  Okay, I get that.  But to change the book so drastically that it changes the story?  I don't like that.

In the book, the character, Ronnie is furious at her parents (particularly her dad) for splitting up.  Dad left.  Before the split, Dad was a wonderful concert pianist and taught Ronnie, who was a very young, talented protege.  When he left, she quit playing.  She never played again until she forgave her father, and he was dying and not able to finish a song.  In fact, she told him she didn't want to see the piano, so he boarded it up in the living room with plywood so she wouldn't see it.  In the movie, she didn't say a word about the piano, and even played for her boyfriend when they were sharing secrets.  It was such a vital part of the book, but when I talked with Daughter and BFF, they liked the fact that she played for Will.

Another part of the movie was the changing of secondary characters.  There was a "bad boy" that was stalking Ronnie, but they never really got that out in the open.  He did a lot more bad things that was never mentioned.  You just have to read the book to get the real scoop.

All in all, we all loved the movie.  Daughter has already asked for the DVD when it comes out.  I will see it again.  I loved it.  We recommend it with six thumbs up!

Post-It Tuesday.

Here are mine for the day....

The book was so awesome!

Our fridge is 25+ years old and before it goes out completely on us, we want to get a new one.

As a storm rolled in last night, lightning flashed.  Daughter said, "Aww, I wasn't ready."  She thinks God was taking her picture.

Easter Weekend Wrap-Up

What a busy, busy weekend we had!

Friday evening, we had a wonderful Good Friday Service.  The choir sang, our associate minister did a Christian rap song (but not as the rap), then we buried our burdens (which were written on stones) out in a hole in the yard.  The last four or five weeks worth of sermons were on stones, so this was a fitting end to the series.  Then we went to eat with my parents and some friends.  Then we went to the grocery.  So I did not get home until after 10:30pm.

Satruday, we were up early for choir practice, then Daughter and I went and had our hair done.

I don't have a picture yet of the end result of her, but she looks really good!  We love our hair salon and hair dresser.

After we got our hair done, we went to a friend's baby shower.  That was a lot of fun.  When that was over, Daughter and Son went over to a cookout with Daughter's BFF.  Foxy and I stayed home.  He had been smoking meat all day, and I made a cake.

I think it turned out really well.  I hate to eat Peeps, but it was fund to make this sunflower cake.  Everyone thought it was cute.  I like creating things with food.  I am not very good at it yet, but I am going to keep practicing.

Sunday, we had church.  The kids of our church act out the song "Watch the Lamb".  I cry every time I see them do it.  Every.Time.  The little boy behind me, who is 8 or so, started crying too.  It really got to him too.  We had a packed house this year.  That was awesome.  The weather was beautiful and the crowd was great.  The whole service was good.

Then we went over to my parents for lunch.  There was a lot of people there and a lot of food.  We all had a great time together.  Then we went back to church for the choir concert.  The choir concert was wonderful!  Daughter sang a solo, I directed and it all came together nicely.  It was attended very well and I was very tied after it was over.  So then I went home and did dishes and relaxed, watching a little tv and reading.

This week is springbreak for the kids, so I left them at home sleeping this AM.  Today they are going with the BFF to watch his sister and help his mom clean.  Tonight we need to get Daughter's phone checked, AGAIN.  It keeps turning off on her.  Not three weeks ago, we had this checked and the phone replaced because of a software problem.  This is getting very irritating.  I wonder what they will say tonight?

Easter Candy Friday 5

May Good Friday be what it is to you.  For me it is the remembrance of Christ's night of torment and beating before the Jews.  What does it mean to you?

Today will be a random day.  I was looking at something and came across something weird, but cool.  Easter brings out the child in all of us.  Especially the candy.  The Washington Post has (for the last four years) held a contest where you create a diorama of a scene (this means it needs to be in 3-D) using Peeps.

I hate to eat these sugary marshmallows of color, but the genius ways people use them were amazing.  I am making a sunflower cake with these.  So, we will see how that goes.  Go to www.washingtonpost.com and see the 38 entries.  They are really neat!  I am not that creative.

The Friday Five this week is your 5 favorite Easter candies...

1.  Malted Milk Ball Robin Eggs
2.  Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs
3.  Cadbury Eggs (C"mon, you know you like to open them up to see the yellow "yolk".)
4.  Jelly beans.  Hello?  Who doesn't?
5.  Hollow Chocolate Bunnies
